I’ve experienced many changes these past few years; six to be exact. In fact, my head is reeling with change, unable to get itself back on straight on my shoulders.

I’ve, in some ways, become used to it, so much so, that if a few weeks go by and there is no change in my life, it feels somewhat disorienting.

I have not resisted the recent changes in my life. I’ve learned from society, from friends around me, from the books I read, from my own inner voice, that change is not only necessary but is also desirable. Perhaps necessary,…. but not always desirable.

It is an unnerving sort of thing that leaves you of unsure step and gut wrenching fear. To face the unknown, whether it be to lose a parent and walk forward alone, or to let go of your children and watch them make their way into the world, or to await the birth of your first grandchildren—–or even, to design a blog! All this flings you into a wall of uncertainty made worse by the ever present awareness of the inexorable passing of time.

And yet, it is necessary. It is part of the natural order of things as it strengthens us and gives us the possibility of a new emotion, a new viewpoint, a new experience. And we grow, Lucky are those that embrace change so easily and so willingly. It takes courage.

And so with the new year I await many changes and many new challenges. This blog represents the encouragement of a few people who are very close to me and who pushed me to take a step forward.

Thank you. You knew that I needed this change.

The blog itself, you may have noticed, has changed too. Hope you like it. Let me know.
