And so it was when we came upon ,,Tenuta del Poggio Antico last September: the perfect vacation!

Our first meeting with Tonino, the owner and head of family, was through a dramatic rescue on the narrow, wall-bound road we had mistakenly taken with our over-large minivan! Cool and collected, and with a pinch of good humour, he managed to extricate us easily with, surely, much practiced ability from the mess we had got ourselves in. From then on in, he became our counselor in matters of gastronomy, our tourist guide, our gracious host and a congenial friend.

Tenuta del Poggio Antico is run by Tonino and his two sons Alessandro and Francesco; Ruslana keeps this 4 star hotel spotless and prepares the most delectable cakes for breakfast, sweet and savoury, picking her herbs from the aromatic garden, and serving all on a beautiful seaward terrace; Roman, her husband is always, and willingly, on hand to drive guests into town or to one of the two restaurants Bellavista and Montecorvo down the road.

The handsome and stylish design of the residence certainly increases the pleasure in staying here. But it is the professionalism and genuine warmth of the staff that will bring guests back here; that, and the magical setting of the sun over the Tehrrenean.
